It is my honour to welcome you to Yantai University Law School, one of the earliest law schools in China, established in 1984 under the guidance of Peking University. In 1999, the department was elevated to a law school. Over the years, our faculty has grown to 75 members, including 19 professors and 24 associate professors, with 27 having overseas experience and 6 being international scholars. Many of our faculty have received prestigious national and provincial awards, reflecting their academic excellence and dedication.
We offer undergraduate programmes in Law and Intellectual Property, as well as a dual-degree programme in collaboration with Western Oregon University. Currently, we have over 1,600 students and have graduated more than 10,000 alumni, many of whom have become leaders in academia, legal practice, and public service.
Our school is recognised as a “National First-Class Undergraduate Programme” and has received multiple national and provincial-level teaching awards. Our unique education model combines foundational studies, practical training, and international perspectives, preparing students to excel in a globalised legal environment. Students have won national and international competition awards, including the “Challenge Cup” and the ICC Moot Court Competition.
We are equipped with cutting-edge facilities, including mock courtrooms, training laboratories, and a specialised law library with over 85,000 volumes and leading legal databases such as Westlaw and HeinOnline. The Zhang Jinpan Reading Room, funded by a leading scholar, further enhances our academic resources.
In research, we are renowned for civil and commercial law, contributing to major legislation such as the Contract Law and the Civil Code. Our faculty has undertaken key national projects and published extensively in top journals. We also collaborate with governments and institutions to provide legal services and promote legislative development.
